Shopify has added some update to their term of service. However this update will affect to Mailchimp business and put their customer at risk.
In detail, the new term of service of Shopify specifically asked for pretty much any data Mailchimp collects about its users, including data it collected in the past since the app was installed. Mailchimp had no way of getting that consent from their users retroactively . They say its there policy violation and their team interacts in a very unkind way , a bit too much arrogance.
The two sides have had negotiations but it ended without idea.
“Throughout these negotiations, we refused to agree to terms that jeopardize our users’ privacy and require us to hand over customer data acquired outside of Shopify. From our perspective, that's not our data to share.” Mailchimp states
The Mailchimp app is also no longer available in the Shopify App Store.
The integration is supposed to be on for people who are already using it through May 12. But after that date, customers are going to need a new e-mail marketing service to use with our Shopify store.
